We now reach the top of the heap, in the battle for the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series Rookie-of-the-Year competition. Through three events, Anaheim Hills, CA driver Tyler Fabozzi leads those standings, after scoring the Rookie-of-the-Race Award at the Bullring @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a fifth place finish. For Fabozzi, it was his third straight top-10 finish which lifted him to fourth in the SRL Championship Standings.
The series now heads to Madera Speedway for the “SPEARS Southwest Tour 125 presented by 51 FIFTY LTM” on June 8th. It will be Fabozzi’s first start at the “Fastest One-Third Mile on the West Coast”. Despite that fact, Fabozzi feels confident, and is excited to head to Madera.
“After ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY – ROSEVILLE CA, I’m excited to go back to a short track”, Fabozzi told the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. “I feel like it suits my driving style. We’re going to have to be aggressive to get the win at Madera.”
Fabozzi came into his own in 2018, winning three Super Late Model events at “The Bullring”. He also showed his potential in the SRL, by clicking off one top-5 and two top-10 finishes, in three series attempts. It is the competition in the SRL that Fabozzi enjoys, and feels will lead to the betterment of the team.
“It’s been a lot of fun racing with such a competitive field and the team is getting stronger every race”, Fabozzi commented.
In 2019, Fabozzi hooked up with Crew Chief Rj Johnson, and the crew that serviced the efforts of 2017 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series Rookie-of-the-Year Ricky Schlick. The union has paid off for the former Bullring USLCI Legends Champion. The team scored two eighth place finishes to kick off the season, and then scored the fifth place result at his adopted home track. Fabozzi is happy with the results and is thankful for the team’s hard work.
